Edie Sedgwick No. 1

The first in a series dedicated to Andy Warhol's superstar, Edie Sedgwick. I only recently discovered her a couple years ago while watching fan made Velvet Underground videos, one of which featured clips from Edie's film work with Andy Warhol at The Factory. I had to find out more about her, I even got a shirt of her likeness. Last week I watched her biopic "Factory Girl" (2007), which didn't get very good reviews, but I enjoyed it. One of the pretties faces ever, so beautiful and tragic.

Wizard of Oz Etch a Sketch alive in Technicolor

I have a lot of different Etch a Sketches, nearly every color you can think of, and they all have various colored knobs. I got the idea to experiment with swapping the knobs around to do themed sketches, which lead to the idea of painting the whole thing. And if I'm going to paint the outside, why not put a little color on the glass?

I thought The Wizard of Oz would be an appropriate first etch with which to introduce color into my work. I quite often play movie in the background while I do art (along with a handful of others), as there has probably never been a movie quite so colorful and imaginative. Classic Pop Magazine issue 3, Adam Ant (completed)

Far more difficult project than originally envisioned, I probably erased this more than any full size Etch a Sketch I've ever made. Ended up changing my approach at how I was going about it in order, which solved the problem. I plan to etch a couple more issues of Classic Pop and I also hope to get this to Adam Ant when I see him live in August. Thanks for checking out my Etch A Sketch art!
