Amanda Palmer and The Grand Theft Orchesta, "Theatre Is Evil" Etch-A-Sketch

I've been an Amanda Palmer fan since The Dresden Doll's self-titled album in 2003. I started as a casual fan, listening to every release and liking her a little more after each. After she did the solo album, "Who Killed Amanda Palmer?", I think she was firmly established as one of my favorite artists. At this point, I would say AFP has eclipsed all my music/art favorites and has become my number one art hero.

I posted this sketch to my deviantART page today and within an hour or two it made its way to her twitter, from which she retweeted the image. Definitely a special moment in my art career thus far.

A while back I posted a candy art portrait I did of Thom Yorke, of Radiohead. I tried to follow it up with a skittle/M&M portrait of Amanda Palmer, but my cat ended up walking through it before it was completed.

The image is based on a photo I took at The Dresden Doll's 10 Year Bandiversary Show in New York I attended on Halloween a few years back. Maybe someday I'll try again... Le fabuleux Etch a Sketch d'Amélie Poulain

The fictional character, Amélie, has been a big influence and inspiration to me for quite some time. On occasion, I enjoy listening to the soundtrack to the film while doing my art. A lot of my favorite films are of a whimsical nature and to me, Amélie is as good as it gets in that department. Thanks for checking out my Etch A Sketch art! Emerald City Gatekeeper pocket Etch a Sketch

Here's a couple more Etch a Sketches dedicated to The Wizard of Oz. I did my first one a few months ago of a DVD cover scene, these two are dedicated to The Emerald City Gatekeeper and The Wicked Witch of the West. Yellow brick road painted with acrylic paint, the green/"emerald" etch is the combined parts (body and knobs) of two separate Christmas themed pocket etch a sketches, put together to fit the Emerald City theme.

The Walking Dead Etch a Sketches

Here's a couple Etch a Sketches I did on a travel size etch a sketch I painted up with black acrylic and red house paint to create a gruesome blood splatter, in the spirit of ruthless zombie killing. The top sketch is the second one I made portraying Rick Grimes in season three. The one below is my first attempt at Merle and Daryl Dixon. Unsatisfied with the likeness, I erased and tried again, with a different, more recognizable scene.
